The 2018 Visual Art & Design Showcase is a venue for Mizzou undergraduate students to display and discuss their creative scholarly work in an exhibition setting. Student work will be on display featuring works of photojournalism, graphic design, architectural drawing, painting, textile and apparel design, digital storytelling, floral design and more. A four-person guest jury will award $8,000 in professional development funds to the most outstanding student work. The Showcase will begin on Monday, Feb. 5 with a reception at 5 p.m. followed by a screening of student video work at 6 p.m. in Jesse Auditorium. Jury members will participate in a panel discussion at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Jesse Auditorium and Lev Manovich will deliver the keynote address at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7 in Jesse Auditorium. Manovich is theorist of digital culture, drawing data from sources such as Instagram and Twitter to make cultural and social analysis. The students’ work will be on display in Jesse Hall from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on Feb. 5-Feb.15. All events are free and open to the public.
