But many Muslims in mid-Missouri are condemning the violence as well.</p><p>Friday prayer in Columbia’s Islamic Center on Fifth Street.&nbsp; Hundreds of Muslims have gathered to hear the words of their imam.</p><p>This is two days after the American ambassador to Libya was killed by angry protesters. They were upset over a movie insulting their prophet, Muhammad.</p><p>Chairman of the Islamic Center, Dr. Rashed Nizam, condemns the violent protests and the murders.</p> Mon, 17 Sep 2012 13:17:27 +0000 Mikkel Christiensen 21264 at Mid-MO Muslims condemn violence after film mocks Islamic Prophet Enough money raised for Joplin rally for Muslims <p>Donors have stepped forward to make sure a rally to support Muslims in Joplin will be held.</p><p>The Neighbors — Joplin Mosque Rally will be held Saturday at Landreth Park.</p><p>Organizer Ashley Carter said several people contributed about $2,500 this week to fund the rally, which will feature speakers and entertainment.</p><p>The event was planned after a suspicious fire destroyed the Islamic Society of Joplin's mosque on Aug. 6.
