Boone County residents are being asked their opinions on a proposal for a new park. Columbia Parks and Recreation is proposing building a park in the 30-acres known as Jay-Dix Station in Boone County just southwest of Columbia. The funding for the $125,000 project was approved as part of a 2010 park sales tax approved by voters.
Columbia Parks and Recreation Department Director Mike Hood says this is something Columbia residents have been asking for.
The current bill expires at the end of this month and House Speaker John Boehner acknowledged this week that the full House won’t take up the bill recommended by its agriculture committee. That means as farmers work through harvest and begin to think about next year, they don’t know what’s coming.
