Columbia City Manager Mike Matthes has announced plans to implement 14 recommendations made in a report highly critical of the Columbia Police Department. The report outlines problems within CPD, saying the department's reputation in the community has been steadily dropping.
"The community has lowered the report card of the police department from a B to a D over the past six years," said City Manager Mike Matthes.
Students at the University of Missouri are ramping up their efforts to change the status of the student representative on the system's Board of Curators. Bill Raack reports that legislation to give the student curator voting rights is working its way through the Missouri General Assembly.
One Columbia man died Sunday afternoon after being shot on North Eighth Street. The shooting is one of many that have recently occurred in Columbia. Police have increased the number of patrollers downtown.
