Google names KC company to test Google Glasses

Google has selected a Kansas City company to test Google Glass, the search giant's wearable computer device.
The Kansas City Star reports that Engage Mobile will join other Google Glass testers. The goal is to prepare Google Glass for launch next year.

Republican leaders set out key issues at Boone County Lincoln Days Banquet

U.S Senator Roy Blunt said as long as there is Republican House of Representatives there will be no more tax increases passed by Congress. The Senator from Missouri said spending caps will help ease the federal budget in the next 10 years.

Blunt made the remarks in Columbia Friday, at the annual Boone County Lincoln Days Banquet, where Blunt and Missourian Republican leaders set out some of the issues that might be key to their 2014 election campaigns.

Boone County organizations work to keep tax break

The Missouri State Senate has passed legislation that would eliminate tax breaks for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities living in rental properties. According to Jessica Macy, the executive director of the Boone County Council on Aging, this tax break allows seniors to pay their bills and improve their quality of life.

“This is really money that really helps offset their everyday living expenses,” Macy said.

Macy said the tax break allows seniors to support local businesses by using their money to purchase necessities, such as groceries and prescriptions.

Britain's Iron Lady, Former Prime Minister Thatcher, Dies

Margaret Thatcher became Britain's first female prime minister in 1979 and served until 1990. In 1992, she was elevated to the House of Lords to become Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven. Thatcher died Monday at age 87 following a stroke, her spokesman said.

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher died Monday following a stroke. She was 87. Despite many accomplishments during her 11 years in office, she was a divisive figure, and there is still much bitterness surrounding the woman who was dubbed the Iron Lady.

Margaret Thatcher, who as British prime minister in the 1980s became known as the "Iron Lady" for her tough economic policies, her partnership with President Reagan in standing up to communism and the short war with Argentina over the Falklands, has died.

Her spokesman, Lord Bell, tells the British Press Association that Baroness Thatcher died Monday following a stroke. She was 87.
