Arrival of new pastor eases stress at Catholic churches, but challenges remain

Earlier this summer, Fr. Herb Hayek arrived from Chicago as the new pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Columbia.

His arrival has eased some of the burden of Fr. Thomas Saucier, who has been serving two parishes – Sacred Heart and the St. Thomas More Newman Center – for about a year.

The two pastors are making plans for collaboration, but that doesn't mean the challenges are over.

ColumbiaFAVS reporter Kristin Torres spoke with both pastors about what Hayek's arrival means for the two congregations.

This show is produced in partnership with ColumbiaFAVS, mid-Missouri's source for news about faith and values.
