The City of Auxvasse is continuing work on a two-million-dollar water renovation project.

The project is scheduled to be completed within the next month, and will call for at least one town-wide boil order lasting a minimum of 18 hours.

“The maximum amount depends on whether or not there’s any bacteria in the samples collected,” Auxvasse City Supervisor Mike Bertschinger said. “18 hours is just the minimum amount of time it takes to run a test to verify if there’s bacteria present.”

The City of Auxvasse’s website instructs that when a boil order is in effect, residents should “Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only water that has been boiled for drinking, distilling fruit juices, and all other food preparation and brushing teeth.”

The improvements will provide multiple upgrades for citizens of Auxvasse.

“The project includes a second well for the town. Currently the town only has one operational well, so one source of water,” Bertschinger said. “It also includes the replacement of existing lines that have been trouble spots that have probably been in the ground for 60 plus years.”
