Boone Co. sewer district starts two large projects
The Boone County Regional Sewer District has received a $1.36 million low-interest loan from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The one-time loan is to fund two upcoming projects, including the sewer extension to the new Battle High School.
“The sewer extension at Battle High School is a joint project with City of Columbia," says Tom Ratermann, general manager for the project. "Sewer District roughly pays 50%, and City of Columbia is paying roughly 50%. The sewer is extended up north from Grandstone’s creek to the new high school. ” The interest rate for the loan is 1.44%. That’s expected to save the sewer district and its consumers more than half a million over the 20-year life of the loan. The sewer extension will also serve homes in the neighboring area.
