Our first story deals with rural hospitals in Missouri. Two weeks ago, President Obama told the nation, Washington has to live within its means. As Democrats and Republicans continue to scour the federal budget for over a trillion dollars in possible cuts, one group very likely to be affected is rural hospitals in the Midwest and across the nation. KBIA’s Jacob Fenston reports.
The job market in Moberly at this point is shaky. The last thing the city wanted to hear after the failure of the Mamtek artificial sweetener plant is that another business will cut jobs. Unfortunately that’s exactly what happened. KBIA’s Ari Alexander has the story.

Armed with sponges, scrapers and garbage bags, about one-hundred Columbia teens invaded the streets of downtown Columbia Saturday morning. A variety of local organizations came together for Columbia Youth Service Day Saturday to clean up the neighborhood.
