Business Loop 70/West Boulevard and all on- and off-ramps at Interstate 70 and Business Loop/West Boulevard will close for 45 days beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The I-70 bridge over the business loop will be replaced, and a roundabout will be built on the south side of Business Loop 70.
“The bridge does take a lot of maintenance…and it’s really just outdated and designed in such a manner that we cannot do a major rehabilitation on it,” said Travis Koestner, assistant district engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Central District.
According to Koestner, it is less expensive and more efficient to build a new bridge than to attempt to fix the current bridge.
