Polling locations around Columbia had varying turnout for the School Municipal Elections on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. As of 3 p.m., some polling locations had several hundred voters while others had less than a hundred.

Nono Jost, an election official at the Columbia Public Library, said 280 voters had turned out so far.

“We’ve been steady,” Jost said. “We haven’t been overwhelmed at any point in time but we’ve been steady trickling in since 6 o’clock this morning our first voters were here.”

Jost said Columbia Public Library was one of the busier polling locations. She said this was the first year Boone County clerk, Wendy S. Noren, asked officials at each polling location for updates throughout Election Day.

“She sends out a questionnaire test every few hours to respond back with the numbers,” Jost said.

Across town, officials at the Health Department reported that 245 voters had turned out by 2:30 p.m.

A voter at the Boone County Public Health and Human Services Department, Melody Parry, said she came out and voted for a couple of the big issues on the ballot.

“There were a number of issues that I wanted to vote on,” Parry said. “That included two propositions for the city, the Boone Hospital trustee race and the First Ward race.”

Officials at the Boone County Health Department said it was a slow day for them. Only 71 people came out to cast their ballots by 3 p.m.
