The Missouri House approved legislation changing the way school districts handle teacher layoffs.

Lincoln University and Linn State Technical College have signed a contract to purchase the campus that will soon be vacated by Jefferson City High School.

David Luther is Assistant Superintendent for Community Relations at Jefferson City Public Schools. He says this purchase will benefit for both the school and community.

“Finding someone to purchase a high school… That in itself is an intimidating thought, because repurposing a facility that large is not easy. It just so happened that it was a perfect situation,” Luther says.

Lincoln University is paying 8.4 million dollars for a majority of the high school campus, including the football field. Linn State is paying 1.7 million dollars for the Nichols Career Center.
