The Taliban’s attack on a 14 year old human rights campaigner in Pakistan has drawn condemnation from within the country and throughout the world.
Taliban militants stopped a school van and shot Malala Yousafzai in the head. The child was recently flown to Britain, where doctors are trying to save her life.
To help put this attack in perspective, and in context, Global Journalist was joined my the Pakistani investigative journalist, Umar Cheema. He writes on corruption, politics, national security and human rights for The News, the largest English-language newspaper in Pakistan.
Cheema has been abducted, tortured, run over by a car and anonymously threatened – all because of his writing on issues in the country. He recently came to the Missouri School of Journalism to receive a Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism.
