Delta cuts flights to Columbia's regional airport

The Columbia Regional Airport will be cutting their service beginning next month.

By Alexandra Olgin (Columbia, Mo.)

Delta will no longer be offering mid-day flights departing from Columbia through at least February 2010. This may indicated future cutbacks for loss of service altogether.

Airport chairman Greg Cecil says even though the number of passengers using the airport is increasing, it may not be enough for the airlines to make a profit. Cecil says the airlines are transitioning to bigger planes and phasing out regional jets because it’s better for business. he says with fewer flights, airport costs will increase.
