The Columbia Police Department arrested five suspects in relation to a series of armed robberies that occurred last week.

The arrests were made Wednesday and Thursday morning.

The robberies targeted college-aged males in different areas of Columbia, including two robberies in the downtown area by Cherry St. and Hitt St.

Four of the suspects are from Columbia with the fifth hailing from Pilot Grove, Missouri.

Detectives are currently working to contact the victims to return their stolen items.

In a written statement, Interim Chancellor Hank Foley encouraged residents to be aware of their surroundings and not to let headphones or mobile devices hinder awareness.
