Columbia’s The Gathering Place celebrated its 10,000th breakfast served as a student-run facility.

The bed and breakfast has partnered with MU’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources to help students gain hospitality experience since 2008.

UM System President Timothy Wolfe was on hand to eat the 10,000th  breakfast. Wolfe says he hopes the Gathering Place can serve as an example for other bed and breakfasts in Columbia.

“The more of these that can spring up and be successful is great for the economy here in the city as well as those visitors into our wonderful town so I’d love to see this proliferate.”

The celebration included a ribbon cutting conducted by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. Tours of the historic bed and breakfast were offered afterward.
