Former State Auditor Susan Montee is kicking off her campaign for Missouri Lieutenant Governor with endorsements from St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay and other Democratic leaders.

By Joseph Leahy (St. Louis, MO)

None of the four Democrats in the race for Lieutenant Governor are from St. Louis - Missouri's largest voting bloc. Thus, Montee's endorsement from City Hall gives her a strong lead as she seeks the nomination.
The former state auditor and state Democratic Party Chair says her public service experience also gives her the advantage.

"I'm not afraid of a challenge," Montee said. "I'm not afraid to run this race and stand up for the people who need us most - our most valuable citizens and the vulnerable people that Jefferson City sometimes takes advantage of."

The three other Democrats running are state representative Sara Lampe, former state lawmaker Judy Baker and state conservation commissioner Becky Plattner.
