An 'in the meantime' home for the holidays, at Boys and Girls Town, Columbia
By Janet Saidi
Hear an audio postcard from Thanksgiving morning at Boys and Girls Town Columbia:
During the holiday weeks, foster children at the Boys and Girls Town Columbia wait in anticipation for the chance to spend the holidays with their relatives or foster parents. Yet as the days pass, some of the young people have to deal with the disappointment of not having a home to go to for the holiday.
KBIA’s Lee Jian Chung spent Thanksgiving morning with Boys and Girls Town Supervisor Tanya Canady and foster youth Jesse, who wishes to be known only by his first name. They talked about how custodians and children survive the festive season at what Canady calls their "in the meantime" home.
