Memorial Day Weekend ft. Pedaler’s Jamboree, classic plays and Heartless Bastards

Celebrate the long weekend, even if you don't get Monday off. Soak some sun on the Katy Trail at the Pedaler's Jamboree. Watch plays that you haven't seen since that middle school field trip. Check out some Native American art or an indie rock show. There’s plenty to do!

Pedaler’s Jamboree Bike/Music Festival (Sat-Sun, 9 a.m.)

Bikes, music, the Katy Trail! Join your fellow pedalers for the perfect Memorial Day weekend activity: 30 miles of festival on the trail. Catch music from Southern Culture on the Skids, Dirtfoot, The Ben Miller Band, The Hipnecks and more. Check the full schedule on offtrackevents.com.

Broadway Brewery crafted a limited edition beer for the Jamboree. Yum. Watch for that and microbeers fromTallgrass Brewing Co. at the beer gardens and Kemper Park in Boonville.

So, get your bike tuned and your sunscreen bought. It's going to be a good ride.

Macbeth (Fri-Sun, 8 p.m.)

Head to Yoga Sol in the North Village Arts District this weekend for Macbeth. The folks at the GreenHouse Theatre Project promise a “sleek, sexy interpretation” of the classic Shakespeare play. Just make sure you buy tickets early lest risk them selling out.

Fiddler on the Roof (Fri-Sun, 7 p.m.)

Here's another classic. Catch Fiddler on the Roof at the Maplewood Barn Community Theatre on opening weekend. You know the story, but take this excuse to check out the company's rebuilt barn. The show continues Thursdays through Sundays until June 10. Or, catch the show next weekend with the CoMo 20s and 30s meetup group. They're planning a preshow potluck picnic.

5th Annual For the People Pow Wow (Sat-Sun, noon)

Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with a Pow Wow pow wow. Join this event at Boone County Fairgrounds for traditional dancing, food and Native American art vendors. "Come learn about Native culture," says Dona McKinney, chairperson of the Pow Wow committee.

Mojo’s Presents: Heartless Bastards (Fri, 9:30)

Watch female lead, Erika Wennerstrom, and the rest of the Mojo's this Friday. The four-person, indie rock band will mostly be performing their fourth and latest album, Arrow. It's probably worth checking out. Plus, Mojo's has a porch that’s great for hanging out between sets.

CoMo Weekender is curated by Trupti Rami in hopes of enlivening those 55 hours away from the workweek. Email questions, comments or suggestions to events@kbia.org.
