Republican Representative Kevin Engler, gave a strong speech yesterday advocating for sexual orientation to be added to work place discrimination law.

Engler said he wishes the chamber would add sexual orientation to be listed along with the other minorities considered as protected classes.

“I recognized that we are one of the few states of the union where it’s allowed to fire someone strictly because they’re gay," Engler said. "That’s wrong. That is discriminatory.”

The bill was given first round approval.
