Republicans in the Missouri Senate want to make sure the governor doesn't create a health care exchange without their consent.

A judicial panel is looking for a replacement to take over after Missouri Eastern District Court of Appeals Judge Patricia Cohen steps down in January.

Supreme Court spokeswoman Beth Riggert said Friday in a statement that the Appellate Judicial Commission is seeking applicants.

The Supreme Court acts as the administrative head of the state judicial system.

Cohen's resignation is effective Jan. 3. She's leaving to take a job as a federal magistrate judge.

Cohen was appointed to the state appeals court in 2003. She worked as a St. Louis circuit judge for six years before that.
