Missouri a leader in agriculture education

Dec 5, 2011

This week on Exam, we take a look at Agriculture Education in Missouri. Plus, student athletes at Truman State University are being recognized for academic success.

In rural areas, many school districts have trouble finding certified agriculture teachers to staff their high school programs. But that’s not the case in Missouri - which trails only Texas and California in the number of ag teachers hired. Earlier this year, Harvest Public Media’s Jessica Naudziunas visited with Missouri’s ag ed professionals to get a feel for how the state teaches agriculture in the classroom.

Truman state’s athletes were recently ranked number one in academic success among schools in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association. KBIA’s Wendy Mader has the details.
