The Missouri State Highway Patrol has completed its investigation into a Boone County sheriff deputy's fatal shooting of a man in February.
The patrol says it will send its report to Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight by the end of next week. The deputy shot and killed 28-year-old Cornelius J. Parker on Feb. 28th after Parker shot his three roommates, killing two of them, at a subdivision just east of Columbia.
Boone County authorities say Parker was shot after he got out of his vehicle and exchanged gunfire with the deputy. The Columbia Daily Tribune reports Sheriff Dwayne Carey has said he is confident his deputy acted correctly and he doesn't expect charges to be filed.
The deputy has not been identified. He recently returned to active duty.
