Moberly Area Community College transitions to new president
Dr. Jeffrey Lashley will be Moberly Area Community College’s next president beginning July 1, 20-13. Dr. Evelyn Jorgenson, the outgoing president, has served as Moberly Area Community College’s president for 16 years.
Recently, Jorgenson accepted the president’s post at Northwest Arkansas Community College. “I was at a point in my career where I was able to retire here at Moberly Area Community College," she says. "I did feel like I wanted to have one more grand adventure, as I described it to others, and this was an opportunity that became available.”
Jorgenson will finish the academic year at Moberly, but in the meantime, Lashley says he will be working closely with her to ease into his new role: “I actually will assume the president’s job on July 1, and what that does is it allows for six months for me to work very closely with her to make the transition as smooth as possible. So, I’m really pleased and fortunate that I’m going to have that option.”
Lashley says he thinks MACC is in a good place right now, but he’d like to see Moberly’s connections to the region develop further: “I think that there is potential for us to continue to add more programs in Columbia, continue to work on our collaborations with the University and Columbia College.”
In the meantime, Dr. Lashley will continue to serve in his current position as vice-president.
