The mother of a slain infant has pleaded guilty to two felonies for permitting her child to be around the man convicted of killing the baby in February 2014.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports 25-year-old Anna E. Steele pleaded guilty to one count each of abuse or neglect of a child and first-degree child endangerment. Steele faces up to 14 years in prison.

Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight recommended Judge Christine Carpenter give Steele five years in prison for each count. He left it up to Carpenter to decide whether or not Steele should be granted probation.

Steele is scheduled to be sentenced on January 4th. Steele's attorney Andrew Popplewell declined the newspaper's request for comment after the hearing.
