One Dead After Overnight Triple Shooting

COLUMBIA — One man is dead following a triple shooting that occurred before 3 a.m. Sunday morning in the area of Trimble and Brickton roads.

The Columbia Missourian reports, Columbia Police responded to a panic alarm at 3 a.m. Sunday morning at a Break Time convenience store, 2709 E. Broadway, with the complainant reporting that a woman with a gunshot wound had entered the store. When police got to the scene, they also found a man with a gunshot wound on Trimble Road near a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire, as well as another man who had been shot.

The man found near the vehicle was pronounced dead by medical personnel shortly after he was discovered. The extent of the other two victims' injuries had not been made public as of late Sunday morning.

A preliminary investigation by police found that the vehicle was traveling in the area of Trimble and Brickton when it was approached by another vehicle carrying the suspect, who was firing rounds. Several shell casings were found in the area. No other property damage has been found.

Police are asking people to avoid the intersection. The investigation is ongoing.
