Pinkel Pleads Guilty to Class B Misdemeanor

Missouri head football coach Gary Pinkel has pleaded guilty to a Class B misdemeanor charge for driving while intoxicated Wednesday night.

Pinkel received a 30-day suspended sentence in Boone County Jail. According to online court records, the coach will serve two years of unsupervised probation.

In a statement to fans, Pinkel said among other things that missing the graduating seniors’ final home game Saturday will be the most difficult day of his professional life. The statement reads, in part, “I realize it’s not as simple as saying sorry and moving on. I expect to be held accountable. I embrace the challenge of building back the trust of Tiger fans everywhere.It's a great honor to be your coach. ”

An arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 13.
