Proposed child labor changes questioned on the farm

This week: Missouri could gain over two hundred thousand jobs by the 2025, and the Department of Labor proposed new regulations on kids working on the farm who are under 16.

The Department of Labor has proposed new regulations that would bar kids under 16 from doing dangerous jobs. That has angered many who say the government is trying to outlaw a long tradition of kids working on the farm.  Harvest Public Media’s Peggy Lowe reports.

New research suggests Missouri could gain 240,000 jobs by the year 2025. That’s if the state gets 25 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by then. KBIA’s Camille Phillips set out to see if Missouri is on that track.
