Ragtag Cinema to show "The Interview"

IMDb

Ragtag cinema has decided to show the controversial new movie, The Interview, starring Seth Rogan and James Franco.

The film, which mocks North Korea and its dictator Kim Jong Un, was pulled by Sony after its computer system got hacked and threats were made against theaters that were planning on showing the movie.  However after criticism from politicians and others in the entertainment industry about the decision to back down to cyber-terrorism, Sony decided to allow individual theaters to choose if they wanted to show the movie or not.

Ragtag is part of an association of art-house theaters that will be showing the film.  Programing director Paul Sturtz says it is important to distribute this movie. “Well regardless of whether you think it’s a silly Seth Rogan, James Franco buddy comedy, It’s a much bigger issue around free speech and creative expression and protecting these really important values,” Sturtz said

Sturtz said the theater plans on adding additional show times for after the New Year.
