Rivers across Missouri are on the rise following recent heavy rains.

National Weather Service maps on Tuesday showed mostly minor flooding is already occurring along portions of the Missouri River in western Missouri, and on the Mississippi River in the Hannibal area of northeast Missouri. Some roads are closed an fields are wet, but no major problems are expected.

Mississippi River flooding is expected elsewhere by the weekend. The river is expected to reach about 4 ½ feet above flood stage in Cape Girardeau next week.

The Missouri River is expected to get to about 6 feet above flood stage at several points Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, moderate flooding is occurring now along the Grand River in northwest Missouri.
