Republicans from the 50th Legislative District nominated Sara Walsh to run for the 50th House District seat in a special election in August.

Walsh has previous political experience, having served as state committeewoman for the Missouri Republican Party in the 19th Senatorial District and as a delegate in the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Walsh also served as the Vice Chair of the Boone County Republican Central Committee.

Rep. Chuck Basye, R-Rocheport, says that Walsh may focus on many of the issues he does.

“She’s probably going to be looking at a lot of things I’m concerned about,” Basye said. “Agriculture, education, jobs.”

Rep. Cheri Reish, R-Hallsville, said that Walsh is an ideal candidate.

“I have known Sara since the day she stepped in Boone County,” Rep. Reish said. “We’ve served on the Republican Central Committee together. We helped on campaigns together. So we are very good friends. I’d consider her a BFF.”

Rep. Bayse said that Walsh is up for the job.

“I’m thrilled for Sara. She’s a very hardworking person, and helped me an awful lot on my two campaigns,” Basye said. “Hopefully I’m going to get the chance to help her out a lot.”
