The former school of a 9-year-old Ferguson girl who was shot and killed in her home last month released plans to memorialize her with a new playground.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports The Crossing church in Chesterfield will pay for the new playground at Koch (Coke) Elementary in the Riverview Gardens School District in honor of Jamyla Bolden, who was doing homework on her mother’s bed when someone fired shots into their home.

Bolden's classmates wanted the playground to be in Bolden's favorite colors, purple, pink and lime green.

One of the church's pastors, Anthony Meyer, said the church had been planning with the school to build a playground as well as helping with tutoring and mentoring programs before Bolden's death.
