Two people have died after a single-engine plane crashed in a hay field in Chariton County.

KRCG-TV reports that the Cessna 140 went down Sunday night eight miles northeast of Keytesville. The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victims as 40-year-old Andrew J. Beautte, of La Plata, and 38-year-old Dawn L. Harl, of Des Moines, Iowa.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash of the 1946 model plane. It says the investigation could take several months.
