Veteran set to receive Mexico High School diploma

Mexico native Frank Kramer, 86, will receive his high school diploma from Mexico High School on May 20.

The Mexico Veterans Home chose Kramer to be awarded his diploma after serving in the Navy Kramer dropped out of high school in 1945 and served in the Navy until 1946.  Kramer said he got to see a lot of the world.

“I was able to see Alaska, the coast of England, Gibraltar and Italy," Kramer said. "When the war was over I came home."

When Kramer came home he started a family and worked for the International Shoe Company. Now Kramer lives in the Mexico Veterans home.

Mexico High School principle Terry Robinson said he is excited to have Kramer at the ceremony.

“To have people in this community that have given those kind of sacrifices and to recognize them publicly and tell them that their contributions mattered is important," Robinson said.

Kramer will be among 200 students also receiving their diplomas.
