The Catholic Church is at a crossroads. Pope Benedict XVI surprised just about everyone this week by announcing his resignation. The leader of the world’s one billion Catholics held his final public mass on Wednesday, at the end of this month, he will become the first pope to resign in nearly 600 years. To find out what this means for the Catholic Church, Global Journalist spoke to two religion reporters, including a Vatican correspondent who’s written a biography of Pope Benedict.

In the second half of the show, Global Journalist host David Reed delved into the growing debate over drone strikes and their extensive use by the Obama Administration, and the rationale for secretly using the remote-controlled weapon to kill U.S. citizens deemed to be terrorists.

Guests:

Alessandro Speciale, Vatican correspondent, Religion News Service

David Gibson, National Reporter, Religion News Service

Bill Roggio, Managing Editor, Long War Journal (joined the second half of the show).
