Todd Akin’s new book is entitled “Firing Back.’’ But based on the former St. Louis area congressman’s  interviews over the past week, an equally descriptive title could be “No Apology.”

Two years after losing a nationally watched contest for the U.S. Senate, Akin is arguably more passionate than ever as he defends the message that landed him in hot water in 2012.

The immortal phrase in question: “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

Akin not ruling out political return after loss

Todd Akin isn't ruling out a political comeback, nearly six months after losing Missouri's U.S. Senate race amid widespread criticism of his comments about "legitimate rape."

Akin recently spoke to KSDK-TV in his first interview since losing the November election to Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill. He said he's ready for a comeback, but hasn't decided if that will be in academia, public speaking, or even politics.

A newly published report says Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin was repeatedly arrested during anti-abortion protests in 1985.

Akin recently acknowledged being arrested once, about 25 years ago, but has declined to discuss additional details.

40,000 sign Planned Parenthood petition on Akin

Supporters of Planned Parenthood have delivered petitions with 40,000 signatures to the office Republican Missouri Congressman Todd Akin, expressing anger and outrage over comments he made about rape.

About a dozen advocates and supporters of Planned Parenthood gathered at Akin's district congressional office in suburban St. Louis on Wednesday to deliver the petitions. Akin aide Steve Taylor collected them and invited five of the protesters in for a face-to-face meeting.
