Second Baptist Church Celebrates 150th Anniversary

  The Second Baptist Church will continue to use more than its faith to celebrate remaining open for 150 years.

The church held its 150 anniversary celebration this past weekend. The church used African American gospel music and its history to celebrate how long the church has been running. 

  Director Fran Tibbs said God was the creator of the show’s format.

  The city of Joplin is planning a series of events in May to commemorate the five-year anniversary of the tornado that tore through the community.

A commemorative art exhibit made its first stop in Fulton, Mo., on May 30. The National Churchill Museum at Westminster College presented its new exhibit “D-Day Normandy: Operation Overlord” in remembrance of the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
