After a New York Time’s article published in late October revealed Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster accepted thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from lawyers of companies his office investigated, he announced he’ll be implementing “new transparency measures intended to address perceptions regarding political contributions.”

Schaefer to run for Attorney General

State Senator Kurt Schaefer has become the first big-name Republican to toss his hat in the ring for the 2016 Missouri Attorney General’s race. He is in his second and final term in the Missouri Senate.  

He made headlines earlier this year when he held hearings on the Department of Revenue’s practice of scanning the documents of driver’s license applicants, and its decision to release the names of Missouri’s concealed-carry weapons holders to a federal investigator.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster plans to create a new task force to focus on urban violence. The attorney general's office says the panel could start work in late spring with meetings in Kansas City and St. Louis.

Koster, a Democrat, won a second term this past November. During his re-election campaign, he said he was considering task forces to focus on urban crime and to evaluate the annual report on law enforcement traffic stops.
