The University of Missouri is adding new ways to send out alerts in case of emergencies.
One new method is a beacon system that will help relay messages across campus. The other is a software program that can override computer screens to send an alert.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports the university switched to a new alert notification system provider, BlackBoard Connect, this summer.
The University of Missouri plans to test a new emergency alert system Monday morning.
A university press release states that the system will be tested at 8:50 a.m. and will send two text messages to those who have already signed up for the MU Alert system.
The test will also send messages to the MU Alert Twitter page, and to Facebook.
