Missouri Congressmember Blaine Luetkemeyer says he will consider a 2016 run for governor after his re-election bid this year for the U.S. House.

The Republican from Missouri's 3rd Congressional District said Monday he has been encouraged by party members, donors and friends to consider running for governor.

Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon is barred by term limits from seeking re-election. But others already are positioning to succeed him.

Missouri congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer is urging the federal Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider newly proposed regulations for wood-burning stoves.

Luetkemeyer sent a letter to the EPA Tuesday saying the proposed regulations could increase the costs of manufacturing wood-burning heaters. He said that could make them unaffordable to many people and drive some small manufacturers out of business.

A group of protesters Tuesday called on Missouri Republican Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer to vote to end the federal government shutdown that began Oct. 1.

The 40 demonstrators outside Luetkemeyer’s Jefferson City office included David Meinell with the group Missouri Alliance for Retired Americans.  He says they want a “clean bill” that will reopen the federal government and raise the debt ceiling:

“We do not believe what is going on in Washington DC is conducive to good representation," Meinell said. "They’re holding all of us hostage because of their dirty politics.”

Missouri Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer says he was assured by a top federal official that an electronic list of people with Missouri concealed gun permits never was used by any federal agency.

Luetkemeyer says he spoke with Patrick O'Carroll, the inspector general of the U.S. Social Security Administration. He says O'Carroll confirmed that a Missouri-based investigator recently asked for and received a list of more than 160,000 concealed gun permit holders from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

In Jefferson City, US Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer celebrated his re-election, as he received just under 70% of the popular vote in the 3rd Congressional District. He says the toughest part of this election was getting his name out in the new part of his district.

“You are never sure. You always come in with some anticipation. But if you do your work and you walk in tonight, you feel pretty comfortable because you know where you are gonna be. I have a good sense from the standpoint that I go around my district and I meet with people every day,” Luetkemeyer said.

Missouri officials are both praising and condemning President Obama’s executive order today that halts deportation of teenage and young adult illegal immigrants.
