The search for a new Columbia Public Schools superintendent was narrowed down to two finalists last week. CPS superintendent candidates Dr. Dred Scott and Dr. Peter Stiepleman will be introduced to the community and will answer questions Tuesday at a public "meet and greet."
Columbia Board of Education President Christine King announced in a letter to district staff Tuesday the board has narrowed its search for candidates for superintendent to two people.
One is an internal candidate: Dr. Peter Stiepleman. Stiepleman is currently the assistant superintendent for elementary education for Columbia Public Schools. The other candidate is Dr. Dred Scott, deputy superintendent for the Independence School District.
Rumors swept the Missouri Capitol that the bust of conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was being delivered Tuesday, along with the bust of former slave Dred Scott. House Speaker Steven Tilley recently announced that both would be inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians this year. The sculptor, E. Spencer Schubert, made a post to his website Tuesday indicating he was transporting both busts to the Capitol – but the post was later altered to remove the reference to Limbaugh.
