Mo. Senate budget plan spares education cuts

The Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee agreed Wednesday to follow the House's lead by holding funding flat for public universities.

Education would be spared from cuts but fewer state employees would get pay raises under a budget plan put forth by a Missouri Senate committee.

King, Cushing claim Columbia school board seats

Paul Cushing celebrated his victory at Flat Branch Pub and Brewing with friends and family. He picked up 21 percent of the vote, finishing second to Christine King, who led with 42 percent. Cushing said any of the candidates would have been worthy.
