New Kansas City Airport Will Have 4 More Gates

 The new Kansas City International Airport will be bigger than originally planned.

City and airline officials announced Thursday that the new airport will have 39 gates rather than the 35 originally proposed. They said growth in passenger traffic prompted the design change.

 Plans have been unveiled for a proposed St. Louis Zoo expansion that would allow visitors to go on "safari" to watch African animals graze on a separate tract of land near the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.

Area Southeast of Town Set for Rezoning

Columbia residents might start noticing some changes in the land southeast of town.

The planning and zoning commission approved a zoning request from Crockett Engineering last night at City Hall.

The motion of approval will now be forwarded to the City Council.

The request asked the city to annex roughly 130 acres of mostly woodlands at the southeast corner of Route K and Old Plank Road.

Crockett applied for permanent zoning for the land for a large one-family dwelling district and a planned unit development.

MU veterinary college seeking funding for expansion

The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine has been planning an expansion for nearly seven years. Dean Neil Olson said the project would add 140,000 square feet of space dedicated to research and teaching.
