This weekend Columbia's Stephen's Lake Park plays host to the eighth annual Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival. Festival Director Julie King told KBIA's Darren Hellwege to look forward to artists like John Prine, the Avett Brothers and Amos Lee. King also suggested festival-goers check out up-and-coming act Lake Street Dive performing Saturday at 4:15pm.

For the eighth consecutive year, the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival will kickoff for a weekend of tasty barbecue and blues music from artists far and wide. Joining the mix and taking the stage for their second Roots N Blues appearance are Jacob Best and Gabe Meyer, collectively known as The Flood Brothers. The two boogie blues musicians stopped by the KBIA studio to talk about playing the festival and sample some of their original tunes

Musicians Gabe Meyer and Jake Best define their sound as raw, deep blues mixed with hypno-boogie. The two are collectively known as The Flood Brothers and sat down in the KBIA studio and gave us a taste of what they call “deep thumpy dirty dance” music.

Gabe Meyer and Jake Best have far from what they would consider a normal music career.
