Mo. lawmaker pleads guilty to marijuana charges

A Missouri House member has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Democrat Jeremy LaFaver, of Kansas City, entered the pleas during a brief court hearing Friday in Boone County. He was fined $200 plus court costs on each charge and paid the penalties before leaving the courthouse.

The 33-year-old lawmaker says he made a mistake and is glad the incident is behind him.

House Rep. LaFaver does not plan to contest drug charges


A Missouri House member charged in August with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia says he doesn't plan to contest the allegations.

Democrat Jeremy LaFaver, of Kansas City, told the Columbia Daily Tribune in a statement Wednesday he publicly admitted his guilt when he was arrested. He's scheduled to appear before a Boone County judge on Friday.
