Two black women at the University of Missouri say they were called a racial slur during a confrontation with white students outside the Delta Upsilon fraternity house Tuesday night. 

 

According to a statement from the university's Legion of Black Collegians, a group of white students passed the two women and a member of the group called the women a racial slur. Members of the legion and university police were arriving to assess the situation when the statement says members of the Delta Upsilon fraternity began recording interactions between the police and black students while shouting slurs and obscenities.

The University of Missouri Provost announced that Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Trial Practice in the MU School of Law Chuck Henson would be named Interim Vice Chancellor for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity effective immediately.

Candlelight vigil honors life of Arvarh Strickland

University of Missouri students and faculty joined together Monday night, to honor former MU professor Dr. Arvarh E. Strickland with a candlelight vigil.

The MU Legion of Black Collegians student government (LBC) and the iGUIDE Leadership Team hosted the event just outside of Strickland Hall, for whom the building was named, in memory of MU’s first-tenured black professor who passed away on April 30 at age 82.
