Columbia City Manager Mike Matthes has announced plans to implement 14 recommendations made in a report highly critical of the Columbia Police Department. The report outlines problems within CPD, saying the department's reputation in the community has been steadily dropping.
"The community has lowered the report card of the police department from a B to a D over the past six years," said City Manager Mike Matthes.
One Columbia man died Sunday afternoon after being shot on North Eighth Street. The shooting is one of many that have recently occurred in Columbia. Police have increased the number of patrollers downtown.
The Missouri Office of Administration released today the General Revenue report for February.
According to the report, general revenue collections have increased 2.4 percent in the 2012 fiscal year. But so far, that’s below the projected 2.7 percent increase. State Budget Director Linda Luebbering says the state is confident it will meet projections, due to pay raises and an increase in jobs.
