In Columbia at the Stony Creek Inn, Republican spirits began sky high, then turned uneasy and ended up tumbling down. Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler began the night by easily coasting to a win in the Republican primary for U.S. district four.
A two-guitar band featuring John Wright’s uncle played into the night at the Rocheport General Store as Wright beat out Nancy Copenhaver to win the Democratic nomination for state House district 47.
Storify is a way of telling stories through the social media that grows up around events. KBIA reporters spent time with the candidates in the August primary as the results rolled in and here's some of their coverage through twitter and photos.
A 29-year-old newcomer to politics is the Republican nominee for the newly-drawn 44th State House District. Caleb Rowden got 41 percent of the vote in the 4-way race for the seat, which will represent Columbia’s third ward and most of Northeast Boone County. Rowden says economic development would be one of his main concerns as a legislator.

KBIA doesn't have much in the way of photojournalists, but we've got some smart reporters with some pretty smart smartphones! Our news team spent most of the night in the field with the candidates as they waited for election results to come in and they had their twitter accounts fired up the whole time. Check out our online coverage @kbia or at on the #midmovotes hashtag. We've compiled a few of our twitpics here.
