MU reopens Gwynn Hall

Gwynn Hall, a building on the University of Missouri campus, re-opened following a 15 month renovation.

The new facility offers several new classrooms, offices, laboratories, and a state of the art research kitchen. The refurbishment began in October 2012 and finished up at the end of 2013, with the building re-opening on April 27.

Chris Hardin, is the Chair of Nutrition & Exercise Physiology at MU. He said he is excited about the new facilities at Gwynn Hall.

MU faculty, associates push for clear plan to return museum to downtown

MU faculty, Columbia residents and museum associates continue to express their concern about MU’s lack of timeline for returning the Museum of Art and Archaeology back to the downtown area. The museum, currently housed in Pickard Hall, is moving to Mizzou North, or the old Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.

The move is part of the Renew Mizzou renovation project, which will also displace the Museum of Anthropology at Swallow Hall.

What is the future of MU's campus museums?

MU administrators announced last May that as part of a $22 million building renovation project,  both the Museum of Art and Archeology and the Museum of Anthropology would temporarily move locations. Currently the museums reside on MU’s campus, but next spring they will be moved to the old Ellis Fischel building located near Business Loop 70.  Since the announcement was made there have been some tensions regarding whether or not it will all be a good move for the two museums.
