Beulah Ralph Elementary School Names Principal

A principal was named for Beulah Ralph Elementary School. Dr. Tim Majerus was officially recommended to the Columbia Board of Education to become the first principal at the new elementary school.

Majerus served as Alpha Hart Lewis Elementary School’s principal for the past four years. Previously, he served as principal at Williamsburg Elementary School in North Callaway School District for four years and Blue Ridge Elementary school for 11 years.

“In 2012, I was asked to take over the principal-ship at Alpha Heart Lewis Elementary School, which I was happy to do and that’s been a great experience for 4 years,” Majerus said. “The reason I am interested in the Beulah Ralph position is because it’s an exciting opportunity to open a new school. That’s something I’ve thought about for a long time.”

Majerus went through many interviews, including one that consisted of parents. His final step is to get the approval from Columbia Public School’s Board of Education. President of the school board James Whitt says Majerus would be a strong hire.

“From what I understand, He’s done a very good job out at Alpha Hart and has a great reputation of working with young kids, our students,” Whitt said. “I think he’d be an excellent person. I mean that’s a recommendation.  He has to be approved by the board in the upcoming board meetings.”

The staff at Alpha Hart Lewis was recently informed about Majerus’ new opportunity at Beulah Ralph.  Assistant Principal of Alpha Hart Lewis Jill Edwards said she was excited for Majerus when she found out about his new position.

“I was very proud of him for taking this big risk in his career,” Edwards said. “I know that the families and students over there are very fortunate to have such a great leader. I think he will bring visionary leadership to the new school. He is very creative and in-tune with what parents want. “

Majerus said he is grateful for the opportunity to continue being a principal, especially at a new school.

“Being a principal is a great job,” Majerus said “I get a chance to work with a tremendous staff every day, a chance to work with wonderful parents and most importantly, the chance a bunch of great students every day.”

Majerus said his next step is to start hiring the staff of Beulah Ralph Elementary School before it opens in fall 2016.
